Green Shield Academy is situated amidst green forests and tea gardens in Takdah Cantontonment, in the district of Darjeeling West Bengal. Being situated at an altitude of 1677m the place enjoys a moderate climate. Green-Shield Academy, recognised by Government of West Bengal, School Education Department, is a Co-educational English Medium School run by Takdah Green-Shield Educational Society of Takdah Cantonment, Darjeeling, registered under West Bengal Societies Act XXVI of 1961.

The foundation of the school was laid on the 9th of May, 1995 with an aim of availing a good and modern education to the people, who had felt the need for one over a long period of time in the region. Since then the school has come a long way in establishing itself firmly, striving each day for innovations in all aspects of education and aspiring to be the harbinger of a new era in education.
